Centenary Celebrations - 26th September 2010

The parish was to have celebrated its centenary on 19th September 2010 however, without consulting anyone in Shaftesbury, the Pope decided to visit the UK that weekend and chose the 19th September in particular to beatify Cardinal Newman. The parish's centenary celebrations duly had to be postponed by a week.

The Solemn Blessing of the church took place on September 21st 1910 and the opening took place on September 22nd 1910.

We therefore celebrated the centenary of St Edwards on 26th September 2010.

Several dignatories were in attendance, notably:

Lord and Lady Talbot of Malahide
Père Daniel Boulier, Superior of the FMI
Sister Lawrence from the Daughters of Jesus
Sister Elizabeth Fox from the Daughters of Jesus
Père Jean Ecomard, Econome Général of the FMI
Father Brian Reeves, former parish priest at St Edward's
Deacon Michael Hughes

Below is a partial photographic record of the day which started with a celebration Mass.
