The Parish Picnic
Welcome to the Parish Picnic page.
The annual Summer Picnic for Parishioners of St Edward's Shaftesbury is usually held in July or August in the beautiful grounds of Sedgehill Manor, which, as the name implies, is in the hamlet of Sedgehill just north of Motcombe.
This is a really good fun event, so if you haven't managed to make it before, please try and make the effort to come along this year - you will enjoy it and you won't be dissapointed!

The idea is to arrive at Sedgehill from around 12:30 (not before please) bringing with you, your own packed lunch. Everything else will be provided - wine and other drinks, ice cream, tea and cake.
There will be fun and games for all the family including:

... or you can just sit or stroll around and enjoy the lovely surroundings.
If you would like to contribute to the ad hoc musical entertainment feel free to bring you instrument, song sheet or music along! It is all very free and easy.
We hope lots of you will come and join us for what is always a happy and most enjoyable occasion.
It would be helpful if you would bring folding chairs and picnic rugs - although there will of course be seating and tables in the gardens as usual.
How to get there
From Shaftesbury, take the A350 north towards Warminster. After two miles and having gone down a long steep hill, you cross a railway bridge and very shortly afterwards there is a left turn signposted Motcombe and Coppleridge Inn.
Take that turning and after a mile, on the corner of a sharp bend to the left, turn right following the sign 'To Sedgehill Manor'. The drive is then the first turning on the right between two tallish stone piers.
If you are using Sat Nav, the map reference is ST 855 275 or the postcode is SP7 9HQ.
